What we do
As one of the first major cities, a self-driving minibus, the HagaShuttle, runs in The Hague. The shuttle runs from a nearby bus stop to the main entrance of the HagaZiekenhuis.
With the HagaShuttle, visitors and patients of the HagaZiekenhuis can travel the last few hundred meters from the public transport stop Leyenburg to the main entrance free of charge. This makes the hospital more accessible and is an immediate incentive to come to the hospital by public transport.
Why we are doing this
We went through and helped shape the entire approach - from idea to operation - to this project. We switched between administrators and boards, but also brought the physical marketing on the road ourselves. After all, with an innovative project such as integrating an automated shuttle into a public transport system, everything has to be well organized.
The HagaShuttle is first being extensively tested. During this testing phase, passengers are already taken along and there is always a steward on board.
The result
The first reactions to the Shuttle are laudatory. People feel safe in the vehicle and find it a welcome addition to the hospital's service. Every day we now transport many passengers, some of whom have difficulty walking. The test with the HagaShuttle lasted four years.

What did we learn: Thanks to the project, we learned important lessons that we can also use for other automatic shuttles. As a result, future projects can be faster and more efficient.
