The bright kids of the future visited the Future Mobility Park. For an inspiring tour, but also to share their own insights about the future of mobility.
On Monday, October 2, a nice exchange of futures took place at the Future Mobility Park. The municipality of Delft has set a challenge among high school students and the additional inspiration and intermediate presentation took place at FMP to future-proof the advice to Delft. The assignment is to design a mobility plan for Stationsgebied Delft Campus and where better to test the ideas than at our nursery of mobility?
Second- and third-class students of the Melanchthon Bergschenhoek visited the park to get a demonstration of the available innovations as well as to give an interim presentation of their mobility solutions. At the Melanchthon there is the subject Research & Design, also called the Technasium. It fits well with the assignment and they had an expert occasional jury consisting of Ilse van Zeumeren (FMN) and Remco Derksen (Rebel).
In the neighboring Sturgeon Building, the youth demonstrated pleasantly pristine insights. On feedback, a few even dared to give feedback again; an attitude that was positively reminiscent of the rebellious nature of The Future Mobility Network. While inside we were inspired by progressive mobility ideas with an eye to the future, the other half of the youth allowed themselves to be enriched by an inspired guided tour by Joop Veenis.
The warm-up took place through our story of a driving test for self-driving shuttles and the delivery robot Rosie driving around the youth. The story moved seamlessly from Remco Derksen's Tesla, which briefly served as a model for bridging self-driving cars, to the remote-controlled shared car (Elmo) we recently introduced in the Netherlands. Rosie and Joop further guided the Nicolas Tesla's of the future past Coding the Curbs, intelligent traffic lights, the control room with the sensor network and finally a look at the Hardt Hyperloop. There was mutual motivation, inspiration and a bit of a mix-up.
Thanks also to Nick Veerman of the Melanchthon for this repeatable exchange of ideas. We hope that the Municipality of Delft will take advantage of this!
